Background

The activities in Family Development began in the 1960s when it developed aid programmes for parents based on applying participative methodology. These initiatives soon extended throughout the whole world resulting in the INTERNATIONAL FAMILY FOUNDATION (IDF) being set up in December 1978 by persons representing over twenty countries from all over the world.

After years of experience giving Family Enrichment Courses and actively taking part in international forums, in January 1998, at the 14th International Family Congress held in Orlando, Florida, in the USA, the INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION FOR FAMILY DEVELOPMENT (IFFD) was set up for the purpose of providing better coordination for initiatives in favour of Family Development and to actively take part in a coordinated manner in international forums where crucial matters concerning the family are discussed and decisions are adopted. IFFD currently operates in more than 50 countries.
